Day 11 Tuesday 24th July Catterick to Ingleby Cross
Distance 18 Miles .......... Ascent 650 Feet

From Catterick Bridge follow the Swale to Bolton-on-Swale. Some road walking follows to Ellerton Hill and Kiplin, then fields to Brockholme and Danby Wiske. Danby Wiske to Ingleby Cross is across farmland.
This section is the ‘boring’ bit of crossing the Vale of Mowbray between the Yorkshire Dales and the Cleveland Hills. It is easy but long and it is only boring in comparison to all the other areas on the Coast to Coast.

Some notes on the day

Dave took us back out to the Farmers Arms at Catterick Bridge. We trudged the route to Danby Wiske, going a different route to most people and involving more fieldwork than roadwork. A very pleasant day, very warm, a bit of sunshine but mainly overcast and close. Had a couple of pints at the White Swan in Danby Wiske and then trudged on by the conventional route to Ingleby Cross. A hard day, probably exacerbated by the hot humid conditions and having drunk too much the night before.
